Bike Club Fall 2021
We’re excited to launch this new program! We’ll be learning and adapting as we go.
Leader:student ratio will be 1:3 or 4 for safety and fun. As such we are capping the program at 8 students per group initially. If there is interest beyond that students can be put on a wait list while we find additional volunteer leaders (parents and TA siblings welcome!).
“Cycle Cubs”: Intended for kids who have a strong interest in biking but might not have
much experience yet. Focus on safety and balance skills. Class will be held at TES.
Students should be in at least grade 1.
“Stoked Spokes”: Intended for kids who have some biking experience and are looking to
grow their skills. Focus on safety, balance skills, and progressing to a 2 mile or so ride.
Class will be held at TES but may progress in later classes to the TA Torrey Trail which is
a 1 mile mountain bike loop across from TA. Students grade 2-3 level and up.
“Trail Scouts”: Intended for kids who have experience riding single track mountain bike
trails with roots, rocks, bridges, jump features, and hills. Focus on building skills and
trail stewardship. Class will meet at TES and ride to the TA Torrey Trail, covering 2-4
miles in an approximately 1 hour period. Students grade 4 and up.
“Cycle Cubs” Thursdays directly after school 2:45-4:00 PM starting September 9.
“Stoked Spokes” Thursdays directly after school 2:45-4:00 PM starting September 9. Note these groups running concurrently should allow some movement back and forth to
place kids in the appropriate group.
“Trail Scouts” Saturday morning 9:30-11:00. Please contact Brent
Mellen (firstname.lastname@example.org) Starting September 11.
All groups will run through October as weather and interest permits.
